  In Pakistan, owning pets especially expensive, high breed ones has sadly become more about social display than responsibility. People are buying pets simply for fun or to follow trends. These pets are gifted like toys on birthdays or kept to make Instagram stories look cute. But what happens when the charm wears off? They throw them out. Just like that. I have personally witnessed this. I know families that kept a kitten only till it was small and “cute” and once it grew up, they dumped it outside their house, on roads, or worse, near trash bins. No one thinks about how that animal feels, how confused and scared it must be to be thrown out of the only home it ever knew. And this is not rare. How to prepare NET for Business Studies and Social Sciences . | A complete guide for 2024 aspirants .

Introduction :

Studying at NUST is the dream of every student.  It is ranked among the top universities in Pakistan. Aside from its engineering school, Social sciences school has its charm. For UG they offer psychology, public administration, mass communications, law, business, finance, economics, tourism, and management. Many students want to get admission to these programs. But most of the time they fail to get in. The reasons can vary but most of the time it is because of a lack of preparation. NET for business studies and social sciences is indeed less complex than engineering school but still, it is not a piece of cake. The questions in the test are complex and need preparation. So in this article, I will guide you thoroughly about the syllabus, from where should you prepare, the best book to buy, and time management tips.


Subjects and Syllabus :

Maths: Maths portion covers 80 marks. General maths is included which means that you don't have to prepare for fsc maths. All the maths topics are ones that you have studied in your school life.
Topics: Trigonometry, Algebra, Matrices, Functions, Factorization, Log, Probability, Average, Vectors, Sequence, Geometry, Percentage, Proportions, Arithmetic, Word problems.

English: English portion also covers 80 marks. English is also comprehensive. You have to focus on your grammar and vocabulary.

To get full marks in maths you need to clear all your concepts and practice. You can find a tutor to help you in maths but if you feel like you can do it by yourself then that's amazing because you have studied all these topics before
You can search for the topic you want to study in Youtube and you will get it. It is the best way to make your concepts clear.
Aside from it make sure to solve all the past paper questions. Practice again and again. Don't study from fsc books, general maths will be included in your test which means your matric level maths will be included.




2)Tips for preparation of English :

Students don't give importance to the English portion and hence lose marks from this portion. For the English part try to make your grammar concepts good. Vocabulary is very important in NET so for preparing it, the best book available is the OETP book. You can order this book from

3) Tips for preparation of the Intelligence portion :

The intelligence portion is difficult. As the time is less and the questions require time to solve them. This is the most tricky part. So to prepare them to refer to the OETP intelligence portion. Make sure to learn coding, decoding, and picture pattern. You have to think logically while solving the MCQs. You can also refer to the video on YouTube for a clear picture of the topics.



Time management tips: 

You are given three hours to solve your paper. Managing time is difficult, the best way is to solve the English portion first as you can easily do it without much thinking. Try to do the intelligence portion at last. Make sure to give all three of the NETS exams even if you don't have practice for the first one because it will give you an idea about the questions, and time.
