Most of the time people don't consider searching about cat needs before buying them as a result those gorgeous new days with your cat turns into a nightmare so for avoiding that to happen I have made this blog where I will tell you about things new cat owners should know, and also some major tips to make your cat feel like home.

1 ) Buying all the essentials :

Aside from the cat's other needs, the most important things to buy if you want to have a cat are litter, a litter box, food, and a water bowl. Now for buying litter you should know the variations of different litters that are available such as clumping, none clumping and then select accordingly. They have their pros and cons. 
 For food, the buyer will guide you about which food brand you should give the kitty. Even if you want to change the existing food brand you have to do it gradually by reducing the amount of previous food and increasing the new one. Don't change food directly.

2 ) Setting all the things beforehand :

Before the fur baby reaches home make sure to make your place cat-proof, make it a cat-friendly place by checking all the switches, wires, or anything that can be dangerous to cats. Set his litter box beforehand. The other thing is that the room where you will introduce the fur baby to his new home should be peaceful. There should be places in that room where your new fur baby can hide, it can be space under the bed or the table.


3 ) Introducing them to the litter tray : 

We all know cats are famous for keeping themselves clean. Now the thing is most cats are litter trained beforehand when you buy them, even if you are buying a 2-month-old kitten it will be also litter trained by his mother. Now the thing is many people usually leave the new feline all over the house and do not show them the way to the litter box, and because of that messy accidents happen. So it is advised to show your new feline the way to his litter box, you should put him inside his litter box and rub his little paw over the litter two to three times this will give him an idea that he has to use this litter box.


Also, select the best location for the litter box it could also be in a room or whichever place has less traffic. Now once you set the location of the litter box avoid moving it as cats are territorial animals that hate change, they will remember the place and will pee right in the place where the first litter box was placed. So if you do have to change the location of the litter box move it little by little toward the new place.










3 ) Giving them isolation : 

Cats are very observant and independent creatures. So they take time to adjust to their homes. After the feline is brought home he will find a hiding place and will not leave that hiding place until he is comfortable, others may continuously stare at their owners they need time to process and settle down. So for an adorable relationship between you both, give your fur baby some time, if he is hiding let him hide don't force him to come. Respect his privacy. It is normal for a feline to hide from his new owner even for a whole month. So have tolerance, soon it will be the start of a beautiful relationship. 








5) The chances of diarrhea : 

It is very common for a new cat to have diarrhea soon after reaching your home. This may happen because of several reasons such as feeding them too much, changing the food, or they have eaten something bad, It can also be simply because of a change in their environment. So to avoid that make sure you buy the same food from the buyer and follow the same routine of offering them food. Don't change their food directly.  If they do get diarrhea don't worry they will soon recover, offer them water, keep them clean, and don't stop their food completely. 


 You can offer them small pieces of pumpkin in their food as it is effective for treating cat diarrhea. Mostly it does not last more than 24 to 32 hours. But if the furry baby is continuously lethargic and is not getting well rush to the vet as soon as possible, they may need medical assistance.



6)Making a bond : 

After having a such adorable company with you now it's time to make the best bond that will last forever. For that to happen play with them, you can play with wand sticks or any other toys, spend time with them, and pet them if they are willing. Make them know how much you love them. Give them treats if they are older than five months. You can also click pictures to make memories. This time is remarkable so make sure you spend it well.








7) Vet checkups and vaccinations :

 Vet checkups are very important. So being a new cat owner this is another duty for you.  If your fur baby is not vaccinated. Schedule appointments for his vaccinations. Deworming is another thing we cat parents have to be careful of. So for keeping your kitty healthy take care of his vet appointments. Normal routine checkups should also be done to make sure your baby is perfectly healthy.
